The Ginger Quiff presents You Are Here - The New Sound of Scotland - 30 track double CD

Glasgow based music blogger Neil Hodge aka the Ginger Quiff has released a 30 track CD featuring 30 of independent bands from a range of genres representing a snapshot of the vast array of talent emerging from the grassroots Scottish music scene in recent years. 

Having being drawn in by the vibrancy of the new music scene in Glasgow and beyond over the years, through attending gigs and writing reviews, the seed of the idea began in late 2025. The desire for the project is to give another platform to young bands, opening their music up to those who maybe haven’t come across their music before. Some of these bands have never appeared on a physical release, so the CD may give an opportunity for those of a certain age who “don’t do streaming” to hear these songs for the first time. 

One of the other reasons for starting the blog was as a release from mental health issues. With this in mind, any proceeds after costs made from the CD will be donated to mental health charities Tiny Changes and SAMH. 

The CD features a diverse range of bands some of whom are appearing on the BBC Introducing stage at this years TRNSMT festival, namely Sister Madds, Soapbox and Lacuna, others have already released critically acclaimed albums like Quad 90 and The Cords. Bottle Rockets received the 2024 BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the year, while several bands have been recognised with nominations or awards at the SAMA’s. You’ll find most of the bands gigging hard on the circuit and appearing at homegrown festivals like House Guest and Tenement Trail.
